Ford is looking to redefine the people-mover market when the all-new Flex arrived in showrooms this summer. The Flex is Ford’s new full-size crossover that offers seating for up to seven with flexible cargo capability. The shape is unique in the market and is reminiscent of older-style station wagons. The Flex is offered in SE, SEL and Limited trim levels and powered by a 262-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive, or an optional all-wheel-drive system. A Vista Roof with four glass panels is available as an option on SEL and Limited trims to provide natural light to all three rows; the front panel can open like a sunroof. Available features will include SYNC, voice-activated navigation, EasyFuel capless fuel filler, a refrigerated console between the second-row captain’s chairs and programmable ambient lighting. If the Flex doesn’t provide enough space, Ford is also revising its full-size E-Series Van for 2009. The top selling full-size van in America for almost three decades, the E-Series comes into the new model year with a new grille and updated interior. The E-Series will also be available with a number of new features, including an in-dash computer developed with Magneti Marelli and powered by Microsoft Auto. The system will provides high-speed Internet access via the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network and navigation by Garmin.
