INGS bodykit for Subaru Impreza WRX STi

INGs a well known bodykit manufacturer from Japan has unveiled a bodykit for the new generation Subaru Impreza WRX STI. The latest kit is part of its N-SPEC series of bodykits, which includes a kit designed specifically for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.

In addition to tuning cars, ings is also involved in the Japanese Super Taikyu racing series, and the N-SPEC series of bodykits are derived from the race cars used in the competition. The kit for the Impreza WRX STI consists of a custom front bumper matched to a new grille to give the car a more aggressive face while increasing downforce. Custom front canards accompany these modifications, while custom sideskirts and a new rear bumper can also be found on the ings-prepped Impreza WRX STI. A pair of fog lamp also available for the car as well.

All the bumpers and side skirts are either available in fiberglass or 'hybrid aero' fiberglass material. Hybrid aero fiberglass retains the positive characteristics of traditional fiberglass, including lightness and strength, as well as adopting traits such as flexibility and durability usually associated with materials such as plastic or urethane. For the front canards and the custom front grille, both are available in either lightweight carbon-fiber or more affordable fiberglass. Each piece of the kit can be bought separately, but the custom front bumper, sideskirts and rear bumper can be bought as a three-piece aero package from ings. The price for the kit in fiberglass is ¥188,000 ($2,080), while the price in hybrid aero fiberglass is ¥218,000 ($2,410).

Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C

The Subaru has released the all new Spec C Subaru Impreza WRX STI which only limited to 900 units. The model features an array of improvements including engine and chassis performance upgrades as well as a lighter body.

Based on the standard Impreza WRX STI, the Spec C is powered by a tweaked version of Subaru's 2.0-liter boxer engine with a remapped ECU and new ball bearings for the turbine axle bearing. The turbocharged four-cylinder unit produces an output of 308 PS at 6,400 rpm and 422 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm with Subaru promising quicker response and improved accelerating performance over the base model.

To improve the car's handling, Subaru's engineers retuned the front and rear suspensions while they also made changes to the steering system. In addition, the rear LSD (Limited Slip Differential) system has been changed from a Torsen type to a mechanical type. The Spec C rides on newly designed 18-inch wheels shod in 245/40 R18 Bridgestone "POTENZA RE070" tires.

Finally, the adoption of an aluminum engine hood, laminar window glasses and a downsized battery plus the replacement of the spare tire with a repair kit resulted in a lighter body.

Gronholm's Prodrive Impreza WRC2008 Revealed

Two-time WRC champion Gronholm will race the Impreza WRC2008 in the April Rally Portugal however this is just one time thing that he is doing it just for fun claim but Gronholm himself. That's too bad because perhaps his full return to WRC could bring back some of the old magic from the heydays when Gronholm was racing for Peugeot and there was serious competition between Peugeot, Citroen, Subaru and Ford for top dog in WRC racing.

According to Prodrive, the Impreza WRC2008 is virtually identical to the car used by the Subaru World Rally Team at last season's WRC. "We have only been able to make minor changes to the car because of homologation restrictions, with the most significant difference being the Ohlins dampers," said Prodrive technical director, David Lapworth. "In a perfect world, Marcus would have had far more time behind the wheel, however, with his years of experience, I am absolutely confident he will very quickly find a rhythm in the Impreza," he concluded.
