Ferrari 430 16M Scuderia Spider

Ferrari has released the F430 Scuderia after winning its 16th Formula one constructors championship last week. The Scuderia Spider 16M gets all the goodies from the lightweight Scuderia coupe like the 510 hp 4.3L V8 and the 6-speed F1 paddle shift gearbox. Ferrari is claiming the Scuderia Spider is the fastest open top model they've ever tested around the Fiorano test track, presumably beating out even the might F50 of decade ago.
The Scuderia is 176 lbs lighter than a standard F430 spider at 2954 lbs dry. The car is able to accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds and at 195.7 mph of top speed. As a limited series model Ferrari has of course added lots of distinguishing features like a carbon fiber shell around the roll bar, number plaque on the dash and special interior trim packages.

Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spyder

Rumour around the net’s are abound that the Spyder will feature a retractable hard top rather than the lighter, more appropriate, convertible fabric. The hard top will add some 70kg to the lightweight Scuderia which is a lot for a high performance car. Ferrari, recognising this, will counter the performance sucking weight problem by incorporating its brand new 7-speed dual clutch transmission system which will debut in the brand new Ferrari California. Seven gear ratio’s with double clutch provide for faster, smoother shifts and allows the Scuderia’s 500hp to be stretched through more gears meaning the performance drop due to the extra weight won’t be felt.

If the Scuderia Spyder does make it to production, only 300 of the hardcore Spyder will see the light of day. There is also no news whether Ferrari will build right hand drive versions of it either.
