BMW is considering offering for sale a luxury Microcar in India

We have been sporadically reported over the past months about the fact that BMW is considering offering a new BMW Microcar which to challenge the Toyota IQS and smarts in the world. A review of the Isetta could be somewhat plausible, but in markets outside Europe and the U.S., the determining factor for consumers is price.

BMW might be addressing the hearing to BMW India to launch a new lineage within the segment of the mini-mobile, something that might be similar in size to the recently unveiled BMW Tata Nano, but equipped with more luxury features normally associated with the German mark.

The PTI news agency reported initially on the initial exploration of this new vehicle from BMW, and our friends from World Car BMW Fans have contacted the mark for more information. According to the spokesman for the German manufacturer, there are no plans to compete with the BMW Tata Nano, but are considering "the future of mobility, a marvelous and a canned response from the press department, as if we had never heard a similar one before.

BMW could present an electric fleet by 2012

By 2012, BMW will become one of the largest builders in operation on U.S. soil. To prepare for such words, BMW has decided this year to create a car "environmentally compatible" with the requirements and availability of the American market, basically a vehicle that can be attached to the standards to be imposed with CAFE. According to the executive director of the German brand known for its fine engines, Norbert Reithofer, it is feasible that future models use batteries. In previous reports, it was reported about BMW's intentions to revive the BMW Isetta brand, devoted entirely to the production of green cars. We know now that the project was rejected, so that electric motors will be manufactured entirely new adventure.

BMW will increase its production in the U.S. and cut jobs in Germany

BMW will increase its production in the U.S. and cut jobs in Germany

The weak dollar and strong euro are beginning to affect some builders. In this case, BMW had already announced the expansion of its U.S. plant in Spartanburg, whereas in Germany, the layoffs are imminent. The chief of staff pointed out that BMW has eliminated 5600 jobs by year end. With 2500 already eliminated, the total represents a 7.6 per cent of the workforce of BMW.

While job cuts in Germany, there are plenty of better news on this side of the Atlantic. With a Euro to $ 1.5 dollars, manufacturers are starting to see that occur in the United States is much more attractive. BMW built 155,000 vehicles in the United States during the past year. By BMW 2012, it is expected that this number will increase to 240,000 cars. During January and February, BMW sold a total of BMW 198,628 cars, while for the same period in 2007 sold 191,357. Now with the launch of the BMW 1 Series Coupe and the BMW X6 crossover, BMW should maintain its upward trend in sales.

Clarkson The 135i is one of the best car created by BMW

Many fans of the automotive world are accustomed to the skills of the driver of Top Gear, Jeremy Clarkson, which have no points, but they are quite extreme and often sarcastic, as happened recently with the new BMW Mini Clubman, which was compared with a toilet and which is less desirable than a bag of manure.

Clarkson hates the hatchback, for which he hates the BMW 1 Series hatchback. This time has led to the new BMW 135i coupe, which immediately provoked a different and positive, as the engine of 3.0 liters and the turbo double compact coupe have attracted his attention, which, despite the limited legroom in the squares later described as one of the best cars created by BMW. Now we drive the new BMW 135i coupe!

BMW looks to sell their engines and transmissions to Fiat and GM

BMW
BMW looks to sell their engines and transmissions to Fiat and GM

Some reports from the German newspaper Financial Times Deutschland reported that BMW is in talks with General Motors and Fiat to supply engines and transmissions. For now, the three companies have not ruled on the issue.

The news is interesting but not surprising. Many will recall that GM has sold transmissions to BMW for more than a decade, the model specifically for automatic boxes BMW Series 3 and BMW Series 5. The current BMW 328i with automatic transmission, makes use of the GM 6L45 six changes.

Some speculations suggest that BMW could help GM in its program to develop a transmission rate SMG (sequential). As for the engines, it is possible that you sell your BMW V8 4.4 liters to the Cadillac line, or maybe give you a double turbo GM to compete against the twin-turbo V6 with direct injection of Ford.

The BMW 135i certainly has his own style, even if not in possession of the same delicacy of line as their ancestors. The BMW 135i appears imposing, as a dense block of marble carved by a skilled craftsman, and to reach it, that's what it is. We have already spoken too. BMW considers the creation of a trademark "environmental"

BMW
BMW considers the creation of a trademark environmental

The latest requirements imposed by the CAFE (Corporation Average Fuel Economy), have certainly put a strain on all automotive manufacturers. The body seeks to improve the fuel savings of all U.S. vehicles, has hit with new rates for producers of luxury cars and high performance. One of the companies in this category is BMW, which according to statements last September its chief executive, Norbert Reithofer, seeks to create a fourth brand under its conglomerate BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce designed entirely to the environment and established in 2020. So far, no other detail about this idea has been delivered, but some company executives believe that the creation of a fourth brand vehicles that will use "green" front-wheel drive, could damage the image of high performance BMW. The alternatives that have so far been raised are the supply of hydrogen and diesel systems.

Anyway, the idea of fourth name comes from an analysis by the people of BMW. The possibility of transforming the BMW MINI in a car with an economic picture has been completely discarded because the compact has too many models and alternatives, has even been thought up in a BMW MINI SUV. It was also ruled out the eventual purchase of any brand on sale, as no compliance with the image "environment" that the BMW Group aims. Until the resurrection of old names in the group, as were Triumph and Riley have been rejected. We will have to wait and see what happens in the future, but the concept of creating emblem quarter to improve economy and emissions, it is definitely one of the best possibilities.
